Hey all! So I did "cardio" yesterday. After, I was sweaty, out of breath, and feeling that amazing full-lunged feeling. No treadmill required.
I started with a jump rope warm up, just a couple of easy minutes. Then I launched into some circuits:
--Jump Rope (as fast as possible): 2 minutes
--Kettlebell Swings: 15
-- Mt. Climbers: Until I couldn't do any more.
*Repeated this circuit three times*
Then I alternated between jumping rope & pull-ups and jumping rope & push-ups for three sets each. By the end of that I was DONE. My cool down was walking the half mile back to my apartment.
My total gym time for this workout was 30 minutes (warm-up included). This was a rather intense workout (I was feeling hardcore, I guess), but there are certainly ways you can take this same idea and apply to exercises that suit you better. Just remember, if you can read a book while you are "exercising," you're not really exercising. Challenge yourself! And sweat! It's good for you.

Ah! That sounds really intense! Any suggestions for a kettlebell newb?
ReplyDeleteEm: Start with a two handed KB swing, I'm sure you've seen people doing these before.
ReplyDeleteJust a quick note about KB swings, however, remember that this is a LEG exercise and not an trap/delt exercise. The point is to create explosiveness with the hips and glutes, the energy (or inertia or whatever) created by the lower body is what swings the KB forward.
Perfect. Thanks, Meat.
